\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He walked to the play yard with no pull on the leash. He required a go-slow approach being collared by the runner in the catch pen and had wide eyes. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a female shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He was then approached by a male Labrador and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He then began to roam the yard and explore his surroundings. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to calmly roam the yard and exchange soft greetings, but he appeared to be more comfortable around the calm dogs. He began to give grow wamings to more playful dogs that tried to entice play. He was wary of the handlers in the yard and would bark at them at times. He appeared more willing to approach when handlers were crouched and would sniff them from behind. He would do best with a very calm dog that would respect his space and boundaries.

He was given a moment to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler knelt and called to him, but he did not approach. The handler approached him slowly and he had wide eyes. He allowed the handler to pet his head, but he had wide eyes and licked his lips. He allowed the handler to check his teeth and ears, but he again had very wide eyes and licking his lips. He would also side eye and watch the handler's movements. When the handler touched his tail or rear paws, he would look back with concemed eyes, ears back and licking his lips. He allowed the handler to touch his front paws without issue. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to his handling sensitivity and need for a go-slow approach, he will be designated as adults only required.
