\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He walked to the play yard with no pull on the leash. He required a go-slow approach being collared by the runner in the catch pen and had wide eyes. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a female shepherd and timidly sniffed her. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to remain tolerant of dogs approaching him and sniffing him, but he appeared wary of the higher energy dogs or dogs lingering near his face. He was wary of the handlers movements in the yard and would create space from them. He has been an only dog his whole life and is now a senior dog. so he would do best with a very calm dog that would respect his space and boundaries.

He was given a moment to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler knelt and called to him, but he didnot approach. The handler approached him slowly and he had wide eyes. He allowed the handler to pet his head, but he had wide eyes and licked his hips. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. When the handler checked his teeth, he lowered his head away. When the handler touched his tall or rear paws, he would look back with concemed eyes and licking his lips. He allowed the handler to touch his front paws, but he had concemed eyes. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to his handling sensitivity and need for a go-slow approach, he will be designated as adults only required.
