?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
Jupiter A5719716 was at the front of the kennel when the runner approached his kennel, his body was tense, his tail was
tucked, his pupils were dilated, and his ears were slightly back. The runner presented him the leash, he sniffed it, he was easy
to remove, and he moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when he was introduced to the dogs his body was neutral, he
was interested, he sniffed, and his tail was curved with no wag. He was wary of being collared, he flinched as the runner
placed the leash on him. He entered the yard and was uncomfortable during his greetings. He roamed the yard. He sniffed
the handler a few times but when she would look at him, he would walk away. He hovered around the dogs. He barked and
growled at one of the dogs who was laying down under the table. When a dog ran around him, he chased, growled, and
attempted to pin him down. The handlers quickly stepped in and moved him away using the shake can. He was moved to the
side yard (alone time). Overall, Jupiter was selective of the dogs and does not have a playstyle at this time.

Jupiter A5719716 was moved to the side yard to proceed with his handling assessment. He was slightly wary of the handler,
she coaxed him, he wouldn?t approach her. The handler used the leash to move him closer to her. He was slightly tense as
she pet his head. She asked the second handler to hold the leash as she pet him with the assessment hand. As soon as he saw
the assessment hand, he bit it and shook it (thought it was a toy). He pulled away from the second handler and continued to
bite the assessment hand. Once he dropped it, the second handler used the leash to move him closer to him to give the
handler space to grab the assessment hand. Jupiter was out of energy and completely shut down at this point. He allowed the
handler to pet him everywhere but he remained uncomfortable and wary the entire time. When taking him back to the
kennel, he refused to enter, the handler had to step in with him, he used his body and muzzle to block the door, the handler
had to use the shake can to move him away. Due to handling sensitivity Jupiter will be rescue only.
