Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ sinificantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out-or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
She pulled lightly on leash, straight ahead, while walking to the catch pen. She hesitated to enter the pen with concered eyes and pulled back on leash. She was wary of the collar, rolling over on her back and winating as the runner clasped the collar around her neck. She entered the yard slowly with a low head and low tail. She tolerated several dogs coming up to greet her no matter their energy level. She retumed brief greetings to each of them. She then ran over to a handler with a loose body and neutral tail wag, seeking affection. She then spent several minutes calmly roaming with several other calm dogs, exchanging good greetings. She was enticed for play by a female pit bull but declined the invitation. She approached the other handler with a wiggly body and puppy-ike demeanorto solicit affection. She then spent several minutes cooling off in the pool. As she resumed roaming with several other calm dogs a male pit bull came up and jumped on her back. She gave an appropnate correction and air snapped at him, waming him for space. The waming was respected and the two separated. She remained social and friendly but did not display any play style while in the yard. Due to her history of attacking a goat on a property she entered, she is designated as BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY, NO LIVESTOCK WITH KNOWN HISTORY OF AGGRESSION DISCLOSURE
