\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" She walked to the play yard with no pull on the leash. She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with him. She then lowered her body and displayed passive appeasement behavior. She began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She exchanged soft greetings when approached by calm dogs and displayed passive appeasement behavior at times. She gave an appropnate show of teeth waming for space to a male shepherd, that approached her nose to nose in a fast manner. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She would do best with a calm dog that would respect her space and boundaries.
