Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out-or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experences.
He was wary of the runner in kennel, remaining at the back wall. He did not object to the leash being placed over his head.
Once it was on, he exited willingly. He walked well on leash, next to the runner on the way to the catch pen. He avoided eye contact with a tense body, tolerating the collar being clasped around his neck. He appeared insecure as he greeted a male shepherd through the fence, lifting his paw with concerned eyes. He entered the yard and roamed the perimeter slowly, keeping to himself. He was wary but tolerated other dogs coming up to him, tuming away when then lingered near his face.
When the other dogs would walk away, he would briefly trail behind them to sniff their bodies. He resumed exploring keeping to himself. A handler walked up to him. He play bowed at the handler and then ran away. He would not approach the handlers again while in the yard. He relaxed with the dogs and began exchanging soft nose-to-nose greetings with a loose body. He continued to scoot away from the handlers when approached. Amale pit bull was brought into the yard. The pit bull approached, postured and growled. The pit bull pursued him and he ran away. He then started pacing the perimeter fence, looking up at the top. As a handler walked in his direction, he jumped up and over the perimeter fence. Fortunately, the runner and care center staff were able to approach him and grab his leash. He was taken back to his kennel without further issue. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY

He was wary of the handler with concemed eyes. He tolerated the handler rubbing his back. As the handler's hand neared the base of his tail, he squatted his back end. He fully sat down with a tense body and concered eyes as the handler touched his rear paw. He was tense while tolerating the handler looking in his ears. He tumed his head away as the handler went to look at his teeth. He remained tense as the handler briefly lifted his front paw. He walked back to his kennel without issue.
BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY
