Eval Comments: \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male shepherd. She was tolerant of him sniffing her, but she was timid and did not retum the greeting. She was then approached by a fernale shepherd and displayed the same behavior. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to tolerate dogs approaching her and sniffing her, but she was timid and did not retum the greetings. She remained calm and tolerant for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage or entice any play. She would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Maura is tolerant of the other dogs and would likely do best with a calmer dog.
