The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
He calmly entered the yard and was approached by several dogs. He was tense but tolerated being surrounded, briefly sniffing them in return before walking away. He kept to the perimeter of the yard, spending several minutes roaming and sniffing. He then approached a handler, lightly jumping on his side to solicit affection with a loose body. He will need basic manners training. He then began pacing a perimeter fence, looking up anxiously for an exit. He eventually calmed down and resumed exploring, keeping to himself. He resumed pacing as a few other dogs became excited and started chasing around they yard, causing him to look for an exit. He began to relax again, tolerating their energy. He continued exchanging good greetings with other dogs who came up to him. A playful male boxer was introduced into the yard. Reebok exchanged a good greeting with him and the boxer enticed him for play. Reebok play bowed in return and spent a few brief moments chasing around the yard. Reebok displayed a gentle/dainty play style. He remained social and friendly for the rest of his time in the yard. He will need continued socialization and basic manners training.
