9/30/25 Updated assessment:
Due to being returned for a bite and the behavior displayed at the care center, Mia will be designated as rescue only. She will also require a known history of aggression disclosure and a bite disclosure form.
6/23/25 Playgroup:
The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She walked to the play yard with a moderate pull ahead, trying to create space from the runner. She was wary of faster movements and needed a go-slow approach being collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male Pitbull and remained tolerant of him sniffing her. She did not return the greeting. She was then approached by two dogs at the same time. She laid down, offering passive appeasement behavior and tolerated them both sniffing her. She began to roam the yard and explore. She remained tolerant of the other dogs for the rest of her time in the yard and displayed no aggression toward other dogs. She was wary of the handlers? movements in the yard and would create space from them. Mia is tolerant of the other dogs and displayed no play style at this time. Due to her timid nature with the handlers and need for a go-slow approach, she will be designated as adults only required. Due to the history of altercations with another dog in the previous home, she will require a known history of aggression disclosure form.
