\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with concemed eyes and a tucked tail. She then sat down by one of the fences. She was approached by a male shepherd. She remained sitting down and initially tolerated him sniffing her. She then gave a lip curl and air snap waming for space. He respected the waring and walked away. When he came back andre-approached her a few seconds later, she yelped and gave multiple consecutive air snaps.
She roamed the yard briefly and went to lay down by another fence. She continued to showteeth and snap at all dogs that approached her. She maintained this defensive behavior for the rest of her time in the yard. Due to appearing to be under socialized with dogs and her defensive behavior, she will be designated as no other dogs recommended. She needs much more socialization around other dogs and would likely do best as an only dog in the home.
