EVALUATION COMMENTS:
'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Miracle was in the play yard prior to the assessment and was given time to decompress. Miracle displayed a tense hunched body, closed mouth, ears back, tucked tail, and soft eyes. Miracle was avoidant of the handler and was difficult to keep in place due to her lack of leash training. The handler was able to pet Miracle using a slow approach. The handler was able to examine her ears, mouth, back, and tail. Miracle was avoidant and did not allow her lower extremities to be examined. Miracle was difficult to place in the roll cart and return to her kennel. Miracle could benefit from further socialization and on leash training. Miracle is recommended to be made available to rescue only with a waiver and indemnification agreement medium energy level no other dogs required.
