BASIC MANNERS
Eval Comments:
\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He did become excited and displayed some play ful mouthy behavior with the leash and the handler's boot. He also jumped up in excitement seeking affection, displaying some light mouthy playful behavior. He entered the play yard with soft body language He was approached by two dogs at the same time and exchanged soft greetings with them both. He then began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He approached and offered a play bowto a male shepherd and they engaged in gentle/dainty play. He began to playfully bound around the yard and continued to exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He remained playful and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he did become a little heavier in his contact during play at times. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. He jumped up a couple of times at handlers in the yard, but he was just playfully seeking attention. He displayed no negative behavior toward any of the handlers or the runner, but he could benefit from some basic manners training. Homer is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style.
