- \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time. She was tolerant of them sniffing her, but she was tense as they did so. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She appeared to relax more and exchanged some soft greetings with the other dogs. She was approached by a ferale terer that offered her a play bow. She retumed the play bow, and they engaged in some very brief gentle/dainty play. After the brief play, she then went back to roaming the yard. She remained more social with the calmer dogs, but she continued to become more tense around the higher energy dogs or dogs that lingered in her face. She was approached by a male shepherd that sniffed her from behind for a prolonged time. She became tense and gave side eye. She then tumed and gave him multiple hard snaps while stepping forward, overcorrecting him. Her focus was broken with the sound of a shaker can and she resumed roaming the yard. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She would do best with a calm dog that will respect her space and boundaries.
