unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may
change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
Lucy A5741578 (Intact) was at the front of the kennel in a seated position, appearing nervous with the runner?s presence.
She was slowly collared but hesitated to exit the kennel on her own, requiring coaxing and leash guidance. Lucy became
overwhelmed with the kennel environment, causing her to freeze, exhibiting a tense, trembling body posture. She was slowly
guided through the kennels with gentle leash pressure and release. Once past the kennels, Lucy began to walk on her own,
making her way to the catch pen, where she was collared and leashed with caution as she appeared uncomfortable during the
process. Lucy was allowed into the yard and exchanged greetings with the dogs, displaying a tense posture and a tucked tail.
Following the introduction, Lucy slowly approached one of the handlers with a timid demeanor, allowing herself to be
petted. She remained next to the handler, tolerating the dogs in her proximity. Lucy was shifted to the yard with the calmer
dogs, though she showed no interest in engaging in play with them. For the rest of the session, Lucy coexisted peacefully in
the yard, preferring to keep to herself. Once the session concluded, Lucy was moved to the side yard to begin her handling
assessment. Lucy could benefit from confidence-building and continued socialization in a yard with calm dogs, as this may
allow her to interact at her own comfort level and gradually develop her social skills.

evaluation without incident, though Lucy appeared uncomfortable during the process. Lucy was in a seated position while
her ears, mouth, stomach, tail, and paws were handled. She exhibited a tense body posture, with a concerned gaze, a tucked
tail, ears slightly back, and a closed mouth. Once the session concluded, she sought engagement with the handler, soliciting
petting with a timid demeanor. Lucy was returned to her kennel, requiring coaxing and leash guidance along the way. Due to
her nervous nature, Lucy could benefit from confidence-building and a calm environment, as this may allow her to adjust
more comfortably. Lucy prefers a slow introduction, which helps her warm up to people.
