Eval Comments:
? \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was fearful and dodging the leash in the kennel. After a few attempts the handler was able to loop leash her. She was not leash trained and began falling and biting at the leash. The handler knelt and began to verbally reassure her and coax her, but she would not approach. She remained in the comer with concemed eyes. The handler got a little closer and gauged her reaction to being pet. The handler was able to slowly pet her head, but she had wide eyes and licking her lips, looking up at the handler's hand. It took some time, but the handler was able to rope muzzle her. The handler was able to pick her up, but she was extremely tense when being carried. She was taken to a quiet area to conduct the handling assessment. She few minutes to acclimate to the area. She was very wary and fearful. She would always create space from the handler. The handler was able to slowly approach her and pick up her leash. She stopped creating space for a moment and the handler was able to pet her. She allowed the handler to pet het head and down her back. But if the handler tried to touch anywhere else, she would spin and try to bite. She was rope muzzled again without issue and camied back to her kennel. Due to her handling sensitivity and lack of socialization, she will be designated as rescue only.
