\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collard by the runner, but she required a slower approach. She entered the play yard with soft body language.
She was approached by two dogs at the same time and exchanged soft greetings with them both. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard to explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to calmly roam the yard and would exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. Rue is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time. She would approach the handlers in the yard if they knelt and called to her, but she needed a slower approach. She had to be carried back to her kennel by a handler, due to not being leash trained. She had no negative reaction to being picked up and carried. She will need some confidence building and socialization to walking on leash.
