Eval Comments:
\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a female shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He then approached a male shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He then began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to calmly roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard. He also displayed a few very bef playful moments dunng his time in the yard. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. Popeye is social with the other dogs and displayed moments of very brief gentle/dainty play.
He would likely do best with a calmer dog in his advanced age.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He was given a moment to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler knelt and called to him. He approached the handler with soft body language and began leaning against the handler, seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth, but he slightly tumed his head away. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling. After the handling, he began to rub his body against the handler's legs and continued to seek affection. He was retumed to his kennel without issue.
