A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time. She tolerated them sniffing her, but she was very tense with a high stiff curved tail and wide eyes. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was wary of dogs trialing her to sniff her. She continued to become very tense with a high tail and licking her lips, when dogs would approach her. Amale Pitbull offered her a play bow and pawed at her, trying to entice play. She gave a hard air snap correction and stepped forward. The male Pitbull dashed away to create space. She continued to roam the yard and explore. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She began to approach other dogs and display very tense and challenging behavior toward them. With a high tail, forward body posture, hovering her muzzle near their necks and licking her lips. She required constant supervision by the handlers around the other dogs. Due to her behavior toward the other dogs, she would likely do best as an only dog in the home. She jumped up to seek affection from the handlers, but she displayed no mouthy behavior toward them during her time in the yard. Due to breaking skin on the owner in the previous home, caused by mouthy playful behavior, she will require a bite disclosure form.
