\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He became very reactive toward the dogs through the fence, barking. growling, and lunging. The other dogs were place into an adjacent yard away from him, due to him not breaking focus from them. Ahandler tned to place a basket muzzle on him, but he became agitated with the attempts to muzzle him and gave a waming snap at one point. He held no grudge to the muzzling attempts and would immediately re-approach to seek affection. He did display some mouthy behavior dunng his excitement at times. He was brought into the yard on leash instead, due to being unable to muzzle him. He entered the play yard with soft body language. One social helper dog was allowed to enter the yard to gauge his behavior. As soon as he saw him, he began to focus on him. As he got closer, he had a forward body posture, growling and showing teeth. He then lunged forward attempting to bite. The handler pulled him away on leash and he was removed from the yard at this time. Due to his offensive behavior and a prior incident of attacking another dog in the home, he will be designated as no other dogs required and will require a known history of aggression disclosure fom.

He was taken to the catch pen after play group for the handling assessment. The handler knelt and called to him, and he approached with soft body language. He began to wiggle and lean against the handler, seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift his front paws with no reaction. When the handler touched his tail, he spun around to face them. When the handler touched his back paws, he sat down. After the handling, he continued to seek affection and displayed some mouthy behavior at times when excited. Due to his behavior in the catch pen earlier (with his waming snap), his mild handling sensitivities and his redirection behavior in the previous home, he will be designated as adult only required.
