Eval Comments:
"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
He required a very go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen He entered the play yard with concemed eyes and a lowtail. He was approached by a male Pitbull and exchanged a timid greeting with him. He was then approached by a female Pitbull and exchanged a timid greeting with her. He brefly explored a small portion of the yard ano hen remained by the fence line. He continued to exchange soft greetings when approached by other dogs. He would approach dogs if they were close by, but he wouldn't venture too far from the fence. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play.
He did not approach the handlers in the yard and was wary if they were close by. Shadow is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. The handler knelt and called to him, but he did not approach. The handler approached him slowly and picked up is leash. He had concemed eyes and a tucked tail. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. Although he allowed all areas to be handled, he had concemed eyes and licking his lips. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but he is very timid and requires a very go-slow approach. Due to this, he would do best in an adult only
