Eval Comments: \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She required a very go-slow approach when being collared by the runner. She entered the play yard with soft body language.
She was approached by a female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to calmly roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. After some time, she offered a female Doodle a play bow and they engaged in push/pull play. She remained playful and social with all the dogs for the rest of her time in the yard. She was wary of the handlers in the yard and constantly created distance fom them. Egypt is social with the other dogs and prefers a push/pull play style. See handling assessment for rescue only stipulation.

She was taken to the catch pen after play group for the handling assessment. The handler knelt and called to her, but she did not approach. The handler approached her slowly and picked up her leash. As the handler attempted to pet her, she growled and lunged forward with an open mouth. The handler took a couple of steps back. She then retreated to the other side of the catch pen and focused on the handler with wide eyes and her body was lowered. The handler reset and began to verbally reassure her. The handler slowly approached and picked up her leash. She then stood facing away from the handler and allowed them to pet her head. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch all her paws without any reaction. She allowed the handler to touch her tail with no reaction. Although she allowed all areas to be touched, she remained with wide eves. When the handler was removing her collar, she gave side eye and started licking her lips. Due to her lack of socialization with people and defensive behavior displayed, she will be designated as rescue only at this time.
