About prince: ANIMAL ID: A5768222 DATE ADMITTED TO COUNTY CARE: 2026-04-08 ANIMAL TYPE: DOG AVAILABILITY STATUS: RESC ONLY PRIMARY BREED: SIBERIAN HUSKY PRIMARY COLOR: BROWN SEX: Male SIZE: WEIGHT: 77 AGE: 7 years 0 months Medium Energy Level Known History of Aggression Form Owner surrendered RESCUE ONLY No other dogs required Description PTI stated approximately five years ago, his girlfriend?s brother brought another dog into the home while he was not present and attempted to introduce the dogs. The dogs were about to fight, and during the attempt to separate them, Prince bit the brother-in-law on the hand, causing minor puncture wounds. He also stated that Prince exhibits resource guarding behavior when eating. Prince is a Siberian Husky who is rescue only and urgently needs placement with an experienced, committed rescue. He was surrendered due to a move And after a previous incident involving a bite during a dog altercation and is also reported to show resource guarding with food. In the shelter, Prince presents as highly vocal, tense, and easily overstimulated. At the kennel front, he has displayed barking, growling, snapping, and defensive behavior toward handlers. Despite this, he is easy to leash and walks well, showing he can be managed with proper handling. During interactions with other dogs, Prince is selective. He may approach but tends to be pushy, overreacts to corrections, and has engaged in brief scuffles. He remains vocal throughout and does not currently display an appropriate playstyle. When given time to decompress, Prince shows a more mixed presentation?he will approach handlers with softer body language at times, but quickly becomes overwhelmed. He is sensitive to handling and restraint, showing discomfort with full-body touch and becoming vocal and reactive when pressured. In food scenarios, Prince showed tense body language and clear guarding behavior, becoming still and watchful over his food, though he did not escalate to biting during the assessment. Prince is a medium-energy dog who will require a rescue with experience in behavior, structure, and decompression. The shelter environment is contributing to his stress and reactivity, and he is not a candidate for the public at this time. 🆘 Prince needs an experienced rescue partner ASAP to provide the training, patience, and environment he needs to stabilize and succeed.
