A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.? Blue greeted the runner nicely with a relaxed demeanor and was easy to leash/remove from the kennel. Blue was taken to the catch pen and was easy to collar/leash soliciting petting during the process. Blue became tense at the barrier pushing his face into the fencing with a high/stiff tail and a focused gaze. Blue was placed in a muzzle with ease and was then guided into the play yard. Blue displayed a slightly tense body, high tail with no wag, ears back, closed mouth, and a stern gaze. Blue approached the dogs suddenly placing his head/neck above the dogs appearing to challenge them. Blue did not escalate and required some steering from the handlers. He continued to approach the dogs suddenly requiring steering from the handlers. As he explored the yard the other dogs gave him a wide berth, appearing wary of him. Blue continued to explore the yard and occasionally approached the handler for petting. The other dogs in the yard had stopped playing keeping their distance from Blue. Blue was then shifted to the alone time yard and his muzzle was removed. The dogs in the main yard appeared more at ease and resumed playing. Blue appeared much more relaxed and when the handler entered the yard he approached seeking engagement. When receiving petting/attention from the handlers Blue became loose and wiggly seeking further engagement. Blue is ok for public adoption adults only recommended medium energy level no other dogs required .
