The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs and tolerated them both sniffing her, but she was timid. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. After a short time, she began to approach and exchange soft greetings with other dogs. She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. She would approach the handlers when called and sought affection. Daisy is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog. Due to killing over 20 chickens at one time and a history of attacking and killing other livestock, she will be designated as rescue only. She will also require a known history of aggression disclosure form.
