"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen, but he is timid and needs a go-slow approach. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He bypassed the other dogs and beganto calmly roam the yard to explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to do his own thing in the yard and tolerate dogs approaching to sniff him, but he did not retum the greetings. A dog playfully pushed him trying to entice play. He tolerated this and offered no corrections, but he declined the invitation to play. He remained calm and tolerant for the rest of his time in the yard. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He kept his distance from the handlers in the yard and did not approach them, even when called by his name. Loki is tolerant of the other dogs and displayed no play style at this time. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. The handler knelt and called to him, but he did not approach. The handler slowly approached him and picked up his leash. He had concemed eyes and a lowtail. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. When the handler touched any of his paws, he would quickly pull them away.
When the handler touched his tail, he pulled it away and tucked it. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but he is timid and needs a go-slow approach. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to his need for a go-slow approach and some mild handling sensitivities, he would do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
