Description
🐾 Meet Stella 🐾
Stella is a sweet, sensitive girl looking for a calm adult-only home where she can feel safe and loved 💕 She can be shy and overwhelmed in new situations, but with patience, gentle handling, and time to decompress, Stella shows her softer side. 🌸
Stella prefers calm female dog companions 🐕💖 and enjoys peaceful socializing over rough play. She would thrive in a quiet home with medium energy and understanding adopters who will let her build trust at her own pace. 🏡✨

'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may
change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
Stella was at the rear of the kennel with a slightly tense demeanor and appeared wary of the runner. Using a slow
approach/verbal coaxing and partially stepping into the kennel to leash/remove Stella. She was taken to the catch pen and
was collared/leashed using a slow approach as she appeared wary of the runner. Stella greeted the dogs at the barrier with a
neutral demeanor and was allowed into the play yard. Stella displayed a slightly tense body, low tail, closed mouth, ears
back, and soft eyes. She appeared overwhelmed when greeted by the dogs. She gave defensive snaps and backed away from
the dos. Stella was shifted to the adjacent yard with calm gentle/dainty dogs. Stella exchanged greetings nicely but when
approached by the male dog she gave defensive snaps. He moved away on his own and stella exchanged greetings nicely
with the female dog. Stella continued to socialize nicely with the female but any time the male approached she gave
defensive snaps at him. The male was removed and another female was added to the play yard. Stella continued to socialize
nicely but did not engage/participate in play. Stella maintained a relaxed demeanor appearing selective preferring female
dogs and displayed no play style. See additional assessment for placement recommendations.

Stella was avoidant of the handler and was corralled into the catch pen. Stella was given time to decompress prior to the
assessment. Stella displayed a slightly tense body, closed mouth, ears back, tail tucked, and soft eyes with a furrowed brow.
Using a slow approach the handler was able to examine Stella's ears, mouth, abdomen, back, tail, and front paws. When
Stella's hind limbs were examined she turned and gave a snap/bark at the handler but did not make contact or try to bite.
Stella was allowed to decompress prior to returning to her kennel. Stella is ok for public adoption adults only required
