Eval Comments: "The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by two dogs at the same time and tolerated them both sniffing him. He did not retum the greetings. After the dogs broke away, he began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sriff him. After some time, he began to exchange some soft greetings with the calmer dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He would not approach the handlers in the yard. He is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog. Due to a prior incident, he will be designated as no small dogs required and will need a known history of aggression disclosure fom. Due to his need for a go-slow approach and some mild handling sensitivities, he would do best in an adult only home.
