Eval Comments:
"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male shepherd and tolerated him sniffing her. She was then approached by a female Pitbull and displayed the same tolerant behavior. She began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. After a short time, she went and sat down by the fence. She continued to tolerate dogs approaching her and sniffing her, but she was timid. She remained sitting by the fence and tolerant for the rest of her time in the yard. She allowed a handler to sit next to her and pet her, but she required a go slow approach and would flinch at first. She is tolerant of the other dogs and displayed no play style at this time. She would likely do best with a calmer dog. Due to a prior incident, she will be designated as no small dogs required and will need a known history of aggression disclosure form. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

She was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. The handler knelt and called to her, but she would not approach. The handler slowly approached her and picked up her leash. She allowed the handler to pet her head with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch all her paws with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch her tail with no reaction. Although she allowed all areas to be handled, she remained fearfully frozen. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but she is timid and needs a go-slow approach. She was retumed to her kennel without issue. Due to her need for a go-slow approach and confidence building, she would do best in an adult only home.
She will also need socialization to walking on a leash.
