A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen, but he required a go-slow approach. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He bypassed the other dogs and began to roam the yard to explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. After exploring the yard, he was approached by a male Rottweiler mix and tolerated him sniffing him, but he did not retum the greeting. He was then approached by a female Pitbull and displayed the same behavior. He continued to roam the yard to himself and explore. He remained more tolerant of the calm dogs. He would become more tense around the higher energy dogs or dogs that lingered near his face. He would not approach the handlers in the yard and required a go-slow approach when being handled. He would do best with a calm dog that will respect his space and boundaries. Due to a prior incident, he will be designated as no small dogs required and will need a known history of aggression disclosure fom. Due to his need for a go-slow approach and trust building, he will need an adult only home.
