Eval Comments:
"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male Pitbull and tolerated him sniffing her, but she was tense. She was then approached by a female shepherd and displayed the same tense, but tolerant behavior. She began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to tolerate dogs approaching and sniffing her, but she was tense. After some time, she began to relax a little bit and exchange some timid greetings with the very calm dogs. She remained wary of higher energy dogs or dogs lingering in her face. She would give growl wamings and sometimes air snap wamings for space to these dogs. She maintained this behavior for the rest of her time in the yard. She would approach the handlers often and seek affection. She will need a very calm dog that will respect her space and boundaries. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

She was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. The handler knelt and called to her. She approached the handler with soft body language and began seeking affection. She allowed the handler to pet her head with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch and lift her front paws with no reaction. When the handler would touch her tail or backs paws, she would partially sit down and spin around to face them. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but she was not comfortable with her rear areas being touched. After the handling, she continued to seek affection. She was retumed to her kennel without issue. Due to her handling sensitivities during assessment and in medical, she would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
