Eval Comments: She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was
approached by two dogs and tolerated them both sniffing her. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She began to approach the other dogs and exchange soft greetings with them. She offered a play bow and playfully spun in front of a large male shepherd. He playfully pawed at her, and she gave an appropriate growl comection to this. He respected the correction and he walked away. She continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. She offered a play bow and a playful spin to a female shepherd, and they engaged in brief gentle/dainty play with no contact. Later, a different female shepherd mix playfully pawed at her. This dog was not comfortable with the contact and gave an appropriate growl correction. The female shepherd mix did not respect the correction and had a negative reaction back. The female shepherd mix charged forward growling and snapped.
This dog retreated from her, but the female shepherd mix pursued her. This dog ran out of room and ended up by the fence.
The female shepherd mix growled, lunged, and began attacking her, pinning her down. Ahandler used the sound of a shaker can, but it did not break the focus of the shepherd mix. Asecond handler used the sound of an air hom, and it broke the focus of the shepherd mix temporarily. This dogran away to create space from her. The female shepherd mix attempted to pursue her to re-engage, but a handler was able to grab her leash, and she was removed from the yard at this time. This dog was checked over by handler and only had a minor abrasion under her chin. She was allowed to remain in the yard for recovery play. She remained social with all the dogs for the rest of her time in the yard. She prefers little to no contact during her play and will give an appropriate correction for contact she is not comfortable with. She would approach the handlers often and seek affection. She is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style, with very little to no contact.
She would likely do best with calmer dog that would respect her boundaries.
