A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by two dogs at the same time and exchanged soft greetings with them both. After the dogs broke away, he began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard calmly and exchange soft greetings when the dogs approached him. He offered a play bowto a female shepherd, and they engaged in push/pull play. He offered an appropnate correction to a large male shepherd that heavily pawed at him. The male shepherd respected the correction. William then continued to engage in push/pull play with both the male and female shepherd. He remained playful and social for the rest of his time in the yard. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. William is social with the other dogs and prefers a push/pull play style.
