Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dogs behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamilar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life expenences.
She was loose with soft eyes as the runner easily clasped the collar around her neck. She had soft eyes and a low tail wag while greeting a few dogs through the fence. She timidly entered the yard with a low head. She tolerated a few dogs coming up to greet her but lacked confidence, tuming her head away. She noticed a handler and walked over to him for affection and reassurance, possibly using him as a barrier from the other dogs. After a few minutes she began exploring calmly. She was approached by a group of calm dogs. As one began enticing her for play, she briefly exposed her teeth and growled, not comfortable with their energy. She then snapped at a male pit bull for his obnoxious lingering near her face. She shadowed the handler for a fewminutes, clearly more comfortable being around the handlers. She was enticed for play once again by a male pit bull and gave him an air snap waming. She is unsocialized and lacks confidence. She may do best in a home with other calm dogs. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
