'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a female Pitbull and was extremely pushy in his greetings with her and then attempted to mount her. He then approached a female shepherd and displayed the same behavior. Handlers had to steered him away each time. He began to roam the yard and explore. He would approach the handlers to seek affection. He continued to become very pushy and assertive in his greetings with other dogs and then trying to mount them. A female Pitbull began to scurry away to create space from him. He appeared aroused by her running away and pursued her, biting at her back. A handler broke his focus using the sound of pet corrector and then grabbed his leash. He was removed from the yard at this time. Due to his pushy, assertive behavior and his arousal displayed, requiring constant supervision and intervention from the handlers around the other dogs, he would likely do best as an only dog in the home.
Handling:

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He approached with soft body language and began to lean against the handler, seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. He displayed no negative or concerning behavior toward the handler. He was returned to his kennel without issue.
