'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
Melody A5777516 greeted the runner with a relaxed demeanor, she was easy to remove, and she strongly pulled on leash. In
the catch pen when she was introduced to the dogs her body was neutral, her eyes were neutral, her mouth was closed and
her ears were neutral. She was difficult to leash due to her constantly moving around. She entered the yard and was slightly
nervous during the greetings. She ignored the dogs and was slightly avoidant of them at first. She used the handlers as
shields. She solicited affection from the handlers. She eventually settled and began to sniff her environmental surroundings.
She was able to co-exist with the dogs. Overall, Melody was tolerant of the dogs and would benefit best in a gentle/dainty
yard. Behaviorally ok for public adoption, large calm dogs recommended.
