Eval Comments:
\"The behaviors described to day reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached two dogs that were standing together and exchanged soft greetings with them both. Hethen approached a female boxer in a fast manner and playfully jump at her, trying to entice play. She gave him multiple consecutive air snap corrections, while barking and stepping forward, over correcting him. He respected the correction and ran away. He then began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He began to playfully bound around the yard and continued to exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He offered a play bowto a female Pitbull, and they engaged in rough and rowdy play. He remained playful and social for the rest of his time in the yard. He is very high in energy and will need a dog to match his energy and play style. He may be too much for some dogs. He would approach the handlers and jump up to seek affection. He also displayed mouthy behavior when excited. Abner is social with the other dogs and prefers a rough and rowdy play style. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He approached with soft body language and beganto lean against the handler, seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but he does jump up a lot and displayed excitable mouthy behavior. He would greatly benefit from basic manners training and will also need socialization to walking on leash. Due to these factors, he would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
