\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by two dogs in fast manner, he backed up to create space and when he was backed into the comer, he gave an appropriate ow of teeth waring for space. The handlers backed the other dogs away from him, to give him space and time to climate. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He exchanged soft greetings with other dogs that approached him. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Santos is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style and would likely do best with a calmer dog.
