EVALUATION COMMENTS:
The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He approached the handler with soft eyes and a neutral tail wag, leaning against his leg to solicit affection. He was relaxed with an open mouth pant as the handler looked in his ears, viewed his teeth, held his front paws, and held his tail. He was slightly wary of his rear paws being held, licking his lips once. When his paw was placed back on the ground, he jumped up, placing his front paws on the handler's lap to seek affection. He gave the handler his paws as well, which the handler held without any issue. He was taken back to his kennel easily. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY
