EVALUATION COMMENTS:
'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Ace was in the play yard prior to the assessment and was given time to decompress. Ace displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, relaxed tail wag, and soft eyes. He approached the handler and allowed head petting. Ace allowed the handler to examine his ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail. Ace became tense/growled when his lower extremities/tail were examined, turning to give the handler a hard stare. Ace knows 'sit'/'shake'/'up' and appears conditioned to follow the 'commands' but becomes tense/growled/hard stared when complying. He appears very tense/uncomfortable giving clear signs of discomfort when being handled doing 'commands.' Ace is recommended to be made available to rescue only (+khoa handling sensitivity) medium energy level no other dog required
