Charlie A5741791 (Intact) was at the rear of the kennel with a nervous demeanor when the runner arrived. He was reluctant
to approach, so the runner had to partially step into the kennel and gently place the leash over his head. Once leashed,
Charlie exited the kennel on his own and proceeded to walk ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash, bypassing
his neighbors. Leash guidance was needed as Charlie hesitated to enter the catch pen, where he was cautiously collared and
leashed as he appeared uncomfortable during the process. Charlie was allowed into the yard and chose to ignore the dogs
that came forward to greet him. He climbed onto a bench and remained there for a good portion of the session, reflecting a
tense body posture. Charlie growled at the dogs that approached him, signaling for space. Eventually, he climbed off and
began to explore the environment, tolerating the dogs that sniffed him along the way. When near the handler, he allowed
himself to be petted on the head, though his body language displayed discomfort during the interaction. For the rest of the
session, Charlie chose to keep to himself, tolerating the other dogs from a distance. Once the session concluded, he was
moved to the side yard to begin his handling assessment. Charlie could benefit from continued socialization in a yard with
calm dogs, as this may allow him to interact at his own comfort level.

Charlie A5741791 (Intact) was allowed to decompress prior to the assessment. The handler was unable to safely conduct a
full evaluation due to Charlie?s defensive response. The handler initiated the assessment by lightly palpating Charlie?s ears
and mouth without issue; however, a deep growl was emitted when handling his left hind leg. As a safety precaution, an
Assess-a-Hand tool was slowly introduced, causing Charlie?s body posture to become tense, with a low tail, a concerned
gaze, a closed mouth, and ears slightly back. As the handler began to examine the legs, Charlie growled and air-snapped,
intensifying his warnings. To prevent further stress on Charlie, the session was concluded, and he was returned to his kennel
without issue. Charlie could benefit from handling-modification training due to his handling sensitivity; therefore, he is
unavailable for public adoption.
