_ The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a female shepherd and tolerated her sniffing her, but she did not retum the greeting. She was then approached by a male shepherd and displayed the same behavior. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. After some time, she began to exchange some timid greetings with the calm dogs. She gave a show of teeth waming for space, to a male shepherd that lingered in her face. She remained more comfortable around the calm dogs and was wary of higher energy dogs or dogs lingering in her face. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She would do best with a calm dog that would respect her space and boundaries.
